How to demo to a buying committee

B2B deals involve a group, not a person, and each stakeholder needs a different demo. Here is how to scale the demo to the whole committee and arm your champion.

Most demo advice assumes one buyer in one call. Real B2B deals do not work that way. You demo to one or two people, and then the decision happens in rooms you are not in, among people who never saw your product.

Buying is a group sport now

Gartner's research on the B2B buying journey puts the typical buying group at six to ten decision makers, each arriving with their own information and their own concerns. The single live demo to your champion reaches one of them. The other nine form their opinion secondhand.

Each stakeholder wants a different demo

The economic buyer wants outcomes and ROI. The technical evaluator wants to see how it actually works and whether it fits the stack. The end user wants to know if their day gets easier. Show all three the same tour and you lose all three. A demo that lands has to flex to who is watching.

Why one live demo cannot cover a committee

A human rep can tailor a demo beautifully, for one person at a time. They cannot run a personalized demo for all eight stakeholders, across timezones, on each person's schedule. That is the scaling wall, and it is why so much of the committee ends up deciding on a forwarded deck instead of the product.

Give every stakeholder their own demo

The move is to make a tailored demo available to each person, on demand. A demo a stakeholder can open whenever they have ten minutes, that asks what they care about and shows them that, reaches the people a scheduled call never will. It scales the personalized demo to the whole group instead of just the champion.

Arm your champion

Your champion is doing your selling internally. Give them something they can hand around: a link that runs a real, guided demo for whoever opens it, not a slide deck that loses the plot. When each stakeholder gets the product walked through for them, your champion's job gets easier and your deal moves.

Track who engaged across the group

When each stakeholder takes their own demo, you learn who in the account is actually engaged, what each one asked, and where interest is real. That maps the buying group far better than guessing from one champion's read, and it tells your reps which conversations are worth their time.

What this looks like automated

A live AI demo covers the committee in a way a single rep cannot: every stakeholder gets a tailored, on-demand walkthrough, and you get the transcript of each. That is the idea behind Ushered, and it pairs well with the qualification angle in self-serve demos that still qualify.
